Bacon-Flavored Dog Biscuits
- 5 cups whole wheat flour
- 10 tablespoons melted bacon fat
- 1 cup milk*
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
Mix all ingredients well. Pinch off pieces of the dough and roll them into golfball sized pieces and place on a well-greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Tuna Kitty Treats
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup nonfat powdered milk*
- 1/2 can tuna, in oil or 1/2 cup cooked chicken, chopped into small pieces
- 1 tablespoon vegetable or cod liver oil
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup water
In large bowl, mash the tuna (or chicken). Add the flour and powdered milk, mixing well. Stir in the water, oil and egg, mixing well. Mixture will be sticky.
Shape mixture into marble sized balls. Place on greased baking sheets. Press balls to flatten.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
Remove treats from oven; let sit 5 minutes and then turn treats over and bake another 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on wire rack. Store in an air tight container in refrigerator.
Apple Cinnamon Dog Biscuits
- 150 grams dried apples
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 5 cups wholemeal flour
- 1/2 cup powdered milk*
- 2 eggs
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Finely chop dried apples in food processor. Place ingredients in a large bowl and mix well until dough forms.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough. Cut into desired shapes and place on baking sheets and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
Doggy Bacon Biscuits
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour.
- 1/2 cup powdered milk*
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed garlic
- 1 beef cube or 1 teaspoon beef stock powder
- 1 tablespoon wheat germ
- 1/3 cup bacon fat or vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped bacon bits
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup cold water.
Pre heat oven to 350. F or 175. C and line tray with baking powder. Put all the dry ingredients and bacon into a large bowl, add the beaten egg, oil, water, garlic and mix well. If mixture is a little dry just add a bit more water. Roll out and using a doggy biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits and place on tray. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a yummy golden brown. You can cut out a bone shape template using a firm cardboard.
*If your pet is lactose intolerant please use lactose free milk as a substitute.
