Proheart a once monthly tablet used for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs.
Directions for Use
Proheart is given once a month, year round for the prevention of heartworm disease. The usual dose of Proheart in dogs up to 10kg is 30 mcg – 1 tablet from blue pack, for dogs 11 to 22 kg is 68 mcg – 1 tablet from green pack, for dogs 23 to 45kg is 136 mcg – 1 tablet from red pack, and for dogs 46 to 68kg is 204 mcg – 1 tablet from yellow pack.
Do not use in puppies under 4 weeks of age. This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Heartworm testing should be performed prior to the start of prevention therapy. Proheart prevents heartworm infections. It is not a treatment for existing heartworm disease. This product causes eye irritation in humans and is harmful if swallowed. Call poison information centre if swallowed. Wash hands after use.
Possible Side Effects
The side effects of Moxidectin are rare at the recommended dosage. Proheart has a wide margin of safety for all sizes and breeds of dogs including Collies. It is approved for use in puppies as young as 4 weeks, breeding bitches and stud dogs.
