HI, MY NAME IS

ARCHIE

I'm a 6 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and I help kids with their reading through the Story Dogs program.

My day always starts with a morning walk around the neighbourhood followed by breakfast and then a nice snooze on the front deck in the sunshine. If I am working, I then get ready to head off to school to help the kids with their reading. I put on my orange vest and my mum Alicia and I head off to Ambrose Treacy College where I will sit with the kids while they read to me. Mum says it helps the kids because I don't judge and all the kids say I am a great listener.

My favourite books are the ones about dogs but I don't mind what books the kids read, so long as I get lots of pats at the same time. Sometimes they even write stories about me!

When my work at school is done, we head home for more snoozing on one of my many beds, then it's time for another neighbourhood stroll and some dinner (hopefully chicken) before bed.

I was adopted by my mum in 2015 from a rescue group and I think it's pretty cool that a rescue dog like me now has a job! If you want a job like me and you like kids, ask your owner about getting involved in the Story Dogs program as you get lots of pats and sometimes even treats when you're a good dog...and it's nice to listen to the kids read their favourite stories to you.
