2016 Event Highlights

With only 2 months to go until the 2017 VetShopAustralia Surfing Dog Spectacular, we'd thought it timely to take you all back to last years event and show you our world famous and super talented hydro-hounds.

Check out the YouTube video below and follow us on Facebook as we count down towards another epic Surfing Dog Spectacular (Sunday 5th March, First Point, Noosa), part of the 2017 Noosa Festival of Surfing.

 

 

What a turn out for this year’s 2016 VetShopAustralia Surfing Dog Spectacular. With not an inch of the shoreline to spare, spectators watched in excitement and cheered on the hydro-hounds as they battled it out for the ‘Best Wave’ title.

Off to a strong start, Team Pepper was the first pup to catch a wave and what a show she put on! Soon following Team Rama, accompanied by Chris De Aboitiz, wowed the crowds with their new move ‘The Backpack’, and this is when we knew it was game on.

Wave after wave the pups fought it out, and just as we thought it was every dog for themselves, Team Rama and Team Patches made a board switch mid-wave, now that was awesome!

Along with the likes of Team Indie and Team Anna pairing together wearing their Hawaiian lei’s, Team Murph cruising and chilling like the coolest pup around, and Team Hugsley looking adorable as always with owner Paul Jones’s daughter Opal, there was really no one place to look.

Plus late entrants and under dogs, Team Timba, Team Lani and Team Kevin displaying impeccable skill, all with their own unique style, made for the biggest and best Surfing Dog Spectacular yet!

With all teams giving it their all it was a tough battle, however with a move like the ‘Back Pack’, Chris De Aboitiz and his very talented pups Rama and Millie were crowned the winners of the 2016 ‘Best Wave’ award. Congratulations Team Rama!
