2021 Event Highlights

On Saturday, 15 May 2021, after a two-month delay due to restrictions on crowd numbers, 13 talented dogs and their owners paddled out at First Point, Noosa Heads, for the highly anticipated 2021 VetShopAustralia Surfing Dog Championships, sponsored by Simparica Trio. Celebrating 10 years of dog surfing, the event drew thousands of spectators to enjoy a perfect autumn day, cheering on the adventurous canines competing for the Best Wave Award.

The competition featured a diverse group of dogs, including Anna, a Border Collie; Banjo, a Kelpie; Bu, a Staffy; Cooper, a Golden Retriever; Hugsley, a Spanador; Pickles, a Pug cross; Poppy, a Groodle; Porkchops, a British Bulldog; Rama & Foily, a Kelpie X and Jack X duo; Spike, a Kelpie Cross; and William, a Kelpie x Retriever. Each dog brought their unique skills and energy to the waves, making it an unforgettable exhibition of the bond between pets and their owners, while promoting a healthy, outdoor lifestyle.

The highlight of the day was Pickles, the tiny black Pug cross, who surfed with his friend Dan. Pickles impressed both the judges and the crowd, taking home the Best Wave Award along with an engraved dog bowl and a winner's poster. The 2021 VetShopAustralia Surfing Dog Championships was all about fun, fitness, and celebrating the joy of spending time outdoors with pets.
