Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Dog Cardiac has very low levels of sodium (salt), to help minimise water retention and reduce the risk of high blood pressure. This in turn reduces the workload placed on the heart, which helps to reduce symptoms.

It also contains polyphenols from green tea extract, which have a powerful antioxidant effect to help neutralise free radicals which can have a negative effect on the heart and its ability to contract. Polyphenols have also been shown to help manage high blood pressure by stimulating production of nitric oxide within the body. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Dog Cardiac is rich in the omega 3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, which can help to reduce muscle loss and encourage appetite in dogs with heart failure.
